Rheostatics – with love from their friends

Tonight on CFNY, Dave Bookman let the Rheostatics in on a little secret that Dave Ullrich of Zunior & The Inbreds has been keeping for the past few months.

Ullrich has been quietly gathering together musician who were inspired and helped by the spirit and work of Dave Bidini, Martin Tielli, Tim Vesely, and their drummers Dave Clark, Don Kerr, & Michael Phillip-Wojewoda. The bands worked on a short timeline to record a tribute album as personal thanks to the Rheos. The album – The Secret Sessions – was released this evening as part of the run up to what many fans consider to be the Rheostatics farewell show on March 30th at Massey Hall in Toronto.

Mike O’Neill joined up with Dave to reunite The Inbreds while Sarah Harmer and Luther Wright reformed Weeping Tile especially for this disc.

Tracks recorded especially for this Rheostatics tribute are as follows:

  1. The WeakerthansBad Time To Be Poor from the album The Blue Hysteria

I was fortunate enough to play a very tiny bit part in this project. You’ll have to buy a copy of the DRM-FREE MP3 download to find out what it was. All proceeds from digital sales of this album will go to a charity designated by the Rheostatics. Go to Zunior to hear some of the tracks.

Now if we could only get the folks at Yahoo! Music Unlimited to add the Rheostatics to their catalogue…
